OUR STORY

Mission

The Skinny Black Girl’s Code is a digital platform designed to help black girls and women accept their skinny form and navigate through life with self-esteem and confidence.

Vision

The Skinny Black Girl’s Code will lead awareness of self-esteem and health issues that affects skinny black females on a national forum.

Founder

Whitney L. Barkley has been a skinny black girl her entire life. Before accepting her body in her early 20s, Whitney suffered from self-esteem and health issues that affected her perception of her body.

Whitney launched the Skinny Black Girl's Code in 2014 to bring awareness to self-esteem and body image issues of black women who do not fit the society norm of having a "coke bottle" or "thick" shape.

She currently lives with her husband Jerome in Cincinnati, OH and is a millennial career blogger and creator of thewritegirlblog.com. Connect with Whitney on twitter: @TheWriteGirl_
